How a business started is always an interesting topic, so we asked the owners a few questions.
About the owners
“There are five of us. All first cousins working in different companies and different fields of work. We just tried kasi first-timer kaming lahat sa business.”

Story behind the name
“Dapat Kobayashi – famous hotdog eating contest winner sa Japan – then we consulted sa friends tapos sabi nila wala daw dating. One time, umiinom kami ng mga kaibigan ko, sabi nila Ozawa. Medyo bastos pero catchy. Tapos tawanan lahat then sinuggest ko sa cousins ko. Natawa din. The next day nung walang inuman and normal lahat, binanggit ko ulit yung Ozawa na name sa kanila tapos na-retain nga sa isip then #eatingOzawa #masarapSiOzawa.”
(The name should’ve been Kobayashi (a famous hotdog eating contest winner in Japan) then we consulted our friends, and they said it didn’t sound inviting. One time, my friends and I were drinking, and they suggested that the name should be Ozawa. A bit inappropriate but catchy. We all laughed. I suggested it to my cousins and they laughed at it, too. The next day, when we were all sober and functioning normally, I mentioned the name Ozawa again and it did stick into their minds, and thus #eatingOzawa #OzawaIsDelicious.)

Inspiration for putting up the restaurant
“The original plan was sushi burrito – same in USA. Masarap din siya nung ginawa namin pero our eyes were not eating – yun bang walang dating yung food – tapos yung pag burrito wrap, hindi consistent. Minsan malaki, maliit, may medyo flat. So sabi ng relatives namin, masisira kami sa consistency. So through trial and error, lumabas si noritaco. But the word taco, bawal daw sabi nung lessor sa Box Park kasi may Mexican na daw, so we changed it lang with ‘k’ para maging noritako
Actually pala yung noritako, nung una flat lang yung crunchy wrapper. Pero sobrang kalat and hirap kainin. So nag-isip kami na dapat parang tacos pero hindi pwedeng bumili sa grocery lang. Dapat kakaiba. So gumawa kami ng pang mold.”
(The original plan was sushi burrito – same in USA. When we made it, it tasted good, but it is not pleasing to the eyes– the food didn’t look appetizing – and the burrito wraps weren’t consistent. Sometimes it’s big, small, and a bit flat. So our relatives said we would be ruined because we wouldn’t have consistency. Through trial and error, we produced the noritaco. But the word taco wasn’t allowed inside Box Park since a Mexican food stand already exists there. So we changed the ‘c’ with a ‘k’ and became noritako.
Actually the noritako, at first, the crunchy wrapper was flat. But it was too messy and difficult to eat. We thought it should look like tacos but we shouldn’t just buy from the grocery store. It should be unique. So we made our own mold.)
