In science, nyctinasty refers to the nastic rhythmic movement of plants in response to the onset of darkness. In the music scene, Nyctinasty is a rock band consists of frontwoman Noodle Perez, guitarist Pat Garcia, bassist Levi Reyes, and drummer Nikki Cuna. The band has been around for almost a decade now and through the years endured several setbacks that the members eventually found ways through. (No one can say they didn’t live by their name, huh?)
Just this year Nyctinasty released their new EP Sunny K as a follow-up to their 2010 album Camping Indoors. The band plays on numerous gigs from campus happenings to huge annual music festivals like Fête de la Musique and PULP Summer Slam. Nyctinasty’s musical identity continues to develop –from a band who did Coheed and Cambria covers to the one who brought us songs like For You, The Gail Song, and Downside Risk. In spite of their successful comeback, Nyctinasty still refers to their fans as their friends. Their existence for almost 10 years did not change their view on the people who listen to them. They remember their roots.
