A video featuring an Australian man being harassed by a mob in India is recently circulating.The Australian was even threatened to be skinned alive for having a Hindu goddess tattoo on his leg.
According to reports, a crowd gathered around Matt Gordon, 21, and his girlfriend Emily Kassianou, 20, while they were having lunch on Saturday in Bangalore. The mob was angered over the tattoo on Gordon’s shin which offended their religion.
The tattoo on Gordon’s leg is of the goddess Yellamma. The Hindus said the tattoo of the fertility goddess offended their religious sentiments, and ordered him to remove it.
The couple and their local friend, Abishek, were detained by police and taken to the Ashok Nagar police station where he was forced to write a letter of apology before they were allowed to leave.
Gordon recalled: “One of them came to me and confronted me about my tattoo. Soon, they surrounded us and threatened to skin my leg and remove the tattoo.” He later described the incident as a “traumatizing situation” on Facebook, and said he did not deserve to be victimized.
